Fruit and Vegetables in the Backyard

Although we don't have a proper garden, Margriet sowed various plants in our backyard a few months ago. Happily, sunflowers, peppers, tomatoes, salad and herbs seem to like the place. And check out the top right corner in the picture - those are strawberries ... I'm really sorry though ... too tempting ... red, juicy and big ... I ate them all (but one). My people were not amused, I can tell you.

Wimbledon

On Monday Kai, Bane, Alex and Gunnar had an exciting day at Wimbledon. It's not just the fantastic tennis, but at the same time the enjoyable atmosphere which makes this place very special. Guys, thanks for wonderful four days in Oxford and London! See you 2010 in South Africa (hopefully)!

Julia Görges

On Tuesday the German Julia Görges (Tennis Wahlstedt/TC RW Wahlstedt, the company/club Gunnar worked for from 2006 to 2008) played in the first round at Wimbledon. Unfortunately, the current number 93 in the world lost to Jelena Jankovic, one of the best players at present, 4:6/6:7, but Julia's performance was excellent anyway.

The Lads Kicked Us Out

Scandalous! Gunnar's tennis mates Alex, Kai and Bane arrived in Oxford last Friday and kicked Margriet and me out. I could have taken them on, but I decided to leave them alone in the end and move out for two days. Tennis, pub crawl, sights - apparently the lads had a great time so far and tomorrow they're even going to Wimbledon! I'll keep you posted.

Sonia and Sven in Oxford

At the weekend Sonia and Sven, more friends from Germany, paid us a visit in Oxford. It was extremely hot so I decided to stay at home most of the time, but apparently the two couples were able to enjoy themselves as well without me. They came back sun-tanned and couldn't stop talking about punting, people in gowns and old buildings. By the way, I am pretty sure that Sven supports Hamburger SV - can anyone tell me why he's wearing a VfB Stuttgart shirt in the pictures below?
